OXYMORON

OXYMORON (from gr. oxumōron)
1. a figure of speech in which opposite or contradictory ideas or terms are combined.

José Maria Cabrera, professional surfer and coach, uses his diverse characteristics while surfing to explore his identity, to transform and to evolve. He highlights the violent ways of the ocean and also reveals the calmness that it represents to him day by day. He uses this contrast to describe his state of being in the ocean, where these become one and enhance new possibilities. The ocean releases force and power, often aggressively. Yet, it triggers a calmness in us when witnessing it. Oxymoron offers an insight into José’s world, while travelling through waves, thoughts and nature. The canary island Lanzarote acts as the source of inspiration.
